Former Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has condoled with the families of victims of a building collapse which occurred on Saturday in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
Four workers were reportedly killed in the collapse while scores are said to be trapped in the debris after the three-storey building under construction collapsed.
Mr Murray-Bruce called for restructuring of the nation’s building codes.
“Enough is enough. Time to restructure our building codes as well as implementation of same is now! I condole with families of all who have lots loved ones in this avoidable mishap,” he tweeted on Saturday.
Reports say the building caved in during a downpour on Saturday morning.
Sources said the victims were in the building waiting for the rain to subside to begin work when a section of the building fell.
An unconfirmed number of persons escaped before the fall.
