Afropop singer and songwriter, Yemi Alade, on Wednesday shared a picture she took alongside Grammy Award-winning Beninese singer-songwriter, Angelique Kidjo.
The ‘How I Feel’ singer took to Instagram to say that music is a universal language as it transcends culture and traditions.
Yemi Alade often called ‘Mama Africa’ took the picture alongside Nigerian singer Asa, Senegalese singer, Youssou Ndour and Angelique Kidjo at the ‘Celebration of African Culture’ event in the new Afrika Shrine on Tuesday.
She captioned the picture, “MUSIC has One LANGUAGE.”
Yemi Alade, alongside Afrobeat musician, Femi Kuti, thrilled French President, Emmanuel Macron, who visited the shrine to inaugurate the African Cultural season to be hosted in France in 2020.
The singers were among other entertainers and industry experts gathered at the Shrine to celebrate Fela’s legacy during the visit of the French President.
Macron was welcomed by the Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and was given a tour of the cultural landmark, shortly before he was seen gleefully dancing as Yemi Alade and Femi Kuti performed.
