Nigerian singer, songwriter, and recording artiste, Bukola Elemide, internationally known as Asa, is 33 today, Thursday, September 17.
Born in Paris, France to Nigerian parents, her family returned to live in Nigeria when she was two.
Aṣa grew up in Alagbole, a border town in Ogun State in the south-western part of Nigeria.
Twenty years later, Aṣa returned to Paris where her life as an artiste took off.
Since meeting with Cobhams Asuquo, who became her music partner and producer, in 2004 the songbird has released three successful studio albums: Asa (2007), Beautiful Imperfection (2010), and Bed of Stone (2014).
Her debut album is considered to be one of the best by an African of this era.
Although, based in France, Asa still sings to please her Nigerian audience.
Her latest single ‘Eyo’ is named after the popular Lagos masquerade and its music video was shot in Lagos.
