Comedian Bovi has responded to criticism surrounding his comments on child discipline, revealing his child’s struggles with speech and communication issues.
During his appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, Bovi shared that he doesn’t believe in physically disciplining children, even when his son, Chuchu, had broken three televisions.
“I don’t advocate for beating children. My son Chuchu dey break television for the fun of it. If he vex, he will throw stuff and break television,” he said, adding that he noticed his son’s remorse as he grew older.
Amid backlash following the interview, Bovi took to X on Tuesday to address the criticism.
He acknowledged that his choice of words, particularly “for the fun of it,” triggered anger but urged people to respect differing opinions on parenting.
Bovi also reflected on his own upbringing, stating that his father never physically disciplined him, yet he turned out “almost okay.”
“My papa no physically beat me and I turned out almost ok,” he added.
In a personal revelation, Bovi explained that his child’s behavior was connected to a speech and communication problem, which had only recently begun to improve.
“My child had a speech impediment and a communication problem that’s only just starting to improve,” he wrote.
Expressing frustration at the backlash, he lashed out at critics, saying, “F#ck all of you.”
