Chef Damilola Adeparusi has said that her just-concluded 120-hour cook-a-thon was not done with the Guinness World Records (GWR) in mind.
Adeparusi stated this in an interview with BBC News Yoruba published on Thursday following a statement by the GWR that she did not seek approval before her cook-a-thon.
Adeparusi, a student of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, said she embarked on the cook-a-thon because she enjoys cooking and wants others to see a young girl cook.
“About the Guinness Book of Record or competing with Hilda Baci, I only did the cook-a-thon because I love cooking. I didn’t do the 120 hours cook-a-thon for Guinness World Records to know me, I only did it for people that will want to watch a little girl cooking,” she said.
Chef Dammy, as she is fondly called, began her 120-hour cooking marathon in Oye Local Government Area in Ekiti State on Friday, June 9, and completed the 120-hour on Wednesday morning.
The GWR on Tuesday confirmed that Hilda Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, now holds the world record with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes set in May.
