Senior pastor of the Trinity House Church in Lagos Ituah Ighodalo has revealed that one of his daughters advised him not to remarry following the death of his wife Ibidun.
Ibidun died on June 14, 2020 of heart attack while setting up COVID-19 isolation centres in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Ighodalo revealed in an interview with Arise TV that he may take another wife when his children are older.
“It is not possible to say I would never remarry, but if I had my way, I am okay. I am happy and my life is not complicated. I am looking after my children, and I am doing well. I might consider it when my children are older. My daughter has also warned me not to remarry (laughs),” he said.
The cleric added that his children were not lacking of mother figures in their lives. He said, “I have been lucky. They (children) have about four women (as mother figures) in their lives. They include my mother in-law (their maternal grandmother), my brother’s wife, Ifeyinwa; my sister, Toluwalope; and Dami, who used to be Ibidun’s personal assistant. And, she has continued in that role.”
Asked by the interviewers if Dami was single, Ighodalo said, “She is single, but is like a daughter to me. She is a good friend’s child, and I practically brought her up.”
Shedding light on how he had been coping with being a widower and wading off female attention, Ighodalo said, “I am coping well, because I was a bachelor for a long time and I know the game. I am very clear in my thoughts, and I would not be in the same space with any woman just by myself. I am always either with my personal assistant, special assistant or chief of staff. Or, they (women) would come to my home, where there are maids around.”
Ighodalo was formerly married to Lucy-Ann Suinner. He married Ibidun in 2007.
