Reality TV star and actress Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan, popularly known as Bambam, has revealed the life-threatening complications she faced while giving birth to her first child.

Speaking on Me and My Girls on Fertitude, Bambam recounted how her kidneys failed, her heart weakened and her liver began shutting down during childbirth.

“My kidney failed, my heart became weak, my liver, everything was just shutting down. She had detached from the placenta; if I was a second late, she would have lost oxygen, and I would have had a stillbirth.

“Every time I look at her, I just say ‘what if’. That word tormented me; what if the doctor wasn’t attentive?

“What if the nurse didn’t do her due diligence? It haunted me for a while, I had to get therapy to walk me through being grateful,” she said.

Bambam expressed gratitude for the medical intervention that saved both her and her daughter’s lives but admitted the experience left her emotionally scarred.

This is not the first time she has spoken about the challenges of motherhood.

A year ago, she opened up about battling postpartum depression and preeclampsia during her first pregnancy. She recalled how her daughter’s skin tone at birth left her confused.

“When my daughter came out, she had a different skin tone, and I had to query the doctor,” she shared.

She also struggled with body changes, saying, “I never imagined my body would ever get thick and change so much.”

However, she credited her husband, Teddy A, for his unwavering support.

After gaining fame on Big Brother Naija Season 3 – Double Wahala in 2018, Bambam and Teddy A tied the knot with a traditional wedding on September 7, 2019, in Ogun State, followed by a white wedding on November 16, 2019, in Dubai.

The couple welcomed their first child, Zendaya Adenibuyan, on March 5, 2020, and their second child, Maya Adenibuyan, in March 2022.
