The movie titled Aba Ikilo centres around a young girl, played by Sotayo, who woke up to find that everyone in her village had vanished. On a quest to look for members of her family and the rest of the community members, she goes through some horrifying experiences including losing one of her legs.
According to Sotayo, the movie, which was shot on location in Oyo State, was written and produced by her.
On her experience while shooting the movie, she said, “Firstly, I thank God for His grace, mercy and favour to complete this project. I cannot really say why I made this movie, but I can tell you that there are so many roles I will love to play. Take a good look at me, no one will cast me as a village girl or try me out as an old woman; that is why I have taken it upon myself to produce movies that will allow producers and my fans see how versatile I can be. The hunger to express myself in different ways pushed me to do this.”
On the challenges she faced while on set, the star of Corper Jide stated, “I spent millions of Naira on special effect make-up, high-end equipment and fees for my crew. Physically, I also sacrificed myself to the end. I walked around without shoes throughout the five days that the shoot lasted. Even now, I can’t walk around properly. The mental stress I put myself through to interpret the role and deliver all by myself, took a lot out of me. I just hope that at the end of the day my fans will appreciate my efforts when I take the movie to the cinema.”
When will Aba Ikilo make its debut at the cinemas? “We are still in the post-production stage, after that we will announce the release date,” she hinted.
Meanwhile, Sotayo released some pictures recently where she was spotting outfits with the logo of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and a wedding ring.
Is she hooked? “Yes, I am engaged and very happy about it because this is my last,”
The ring is however not on her engagement finger, rather, it’s on the finger meant for a proper wedding band; or has Sotayo wedded in secret?
“I do not know. All I know is that I’m engaged, and my man decided to put it on this finger and I cannot question him.”
Who is the lucky man, we asked? “That is a no-go area. He loves his quiet life, but when the time comes, I will let you know him.
“On my APC- inspired outfit, you know I studied Public Administration, so I just want to serve my country someday in any capacity and I am beginning to do that through a great party like APC,” she concluded.
