The video of the 32- year-old’ rapper, song, ‘Tony Montana’ featuring D’banj, appears on the list as NTBB (Not To Be Broadcast) with a remark that it depicts violence.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the Imo State indigene posted a side by side picture of the instructions that shows at the beginning of the video “this video is a work of fiction created for your viewing pleasure and in no way promotes violence or the use of firearms….Yb” and the NBC list of banned songs. He added the caption ‘Na wa o’.
Naeto C’s Tony Montana was released on August 25, 2012.
Also, included on the list are Phyno’s ‘Yayo’, Reminisce’s ‘Tesojue’, Wizkid’s ‘In My Bed’, Olamide’s ‘Falila Ketan’, May D’s ‘Ibadi’ and Davido’s ‘Fans Mi’.
A similar ban was placed on Femi Kuti’s ‘Bang Bang Bang’ in 1999 before the song went on to become one of the artiste’s best ever, getting him the Best Male Artist in West Africa and the Best Male Artist in Africa gongs at the Kora Awards in September of that year.
