The Federal Government has lifted the ban placed on a private airline Executive Jet Services Limited which flew singer Naira Marley to a concert in Abuja last month.
The airline flouted rules on airport operations at the time and was hit with a ban for conveying Naira Marley born Azeez Fashola and his team which included his brother Babatunde Fashola.
The airline’s chief executive Sam Iwuajoku had said they thought the Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola was part of passengers which boarded the flight.
Aviation minister Hadi Sirika, however, said during the COVID-19 briefing on Monday that the ban had been lifted.
“Today (Monday), we lifted the ban on Executive Jet Services Limited. They have complied substantially with all of our imposed sanctions; they’ve paid part of the fines, and they brought up premium plan. So, we have lifted the ban today, so, they continue to do their business,” he said.
“These sanctions are not punitive, they are things to make our industry work better and keep all of you safe.”
Sirika added he would soon release to the public a report on high-profile individuals flouting COVID-19 protocol at the country’s airports.
