Gospel singers Nathaniel Bassey and Mercy Chinwo will be featured on African Voices Changemakers, a CNN International programme sponsored by digital solutions provider, Globacom.
The 30-minute show, hosted by Larry Madowo, will air on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. on DSTV Channel 401, with repeat broadcasts throughout the weekend and next week.
Bassey, known for his powerful worship songs and The Hallelujah Challenge, has built a strong global following through his music ministry.
His hits include ‘Yahweh Sabaoth,’ ‘Ebenezer,’ ‘Tobechukwu,’ ‘Imela,’ ‘Onise Iyanu’ and Olowogbogboro.
Born on August 27, 1981, in Akwa Ibom State, he studied International Relations and Politics at the University of Lagos before furthering his studies in Politics and Music in the United Kingdom.
He is also a pastor at The Redeemed Christian Church of God, King’s Court, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Mercy Chinwo, born September 5, 1991, started singing in church at age six. She gained widespread recognition after signing with EeZee Conceptz in 2017 and releasing her hit song Excess Love in 2018.
She holds a degree in Human Resources Management from the International Business Management Institute (IBMI) and has won several awards, including Gospel Artiste of the Year at AFRIMMA 2020 and Africa Gospel Music of the Year at CLIMA Africa Awards 2022.
The episode will spotlight their musical journeys, influences and impact on the gospel music industry.
Viewers can catch the first broadcast on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., with repeats at 12 p.m., 4:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday, and 4 a.m. on Monday. The same schedule will run next week.
