The Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kebbi State chapter, have commended Gov. Atiku Bagudu over the appointment of five women as Permanent Secretaries in the state civil service.
Mrs Laiatu Bamaiyi, NAWOJ chairperson in the state, made the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

“Gov. Bagudu has demonstrated that his administration is gender-sensitive because the appointment of the five women into the civil service as permanent secretaries is unprecedented in the history of the state,” she said.
Bamaiyi urged the newly appointed permanent secretaries to lead by example, adding that their performance would inspire more appointments of women into sensitive government positions in the state.
She added that the inclusion of women in governance was a backbone for meaningful development in the state.“The governor has fulfilled his campaign promise of making 35 per cent affirmative practicable.”
We urge governments and the private sector to encourage and support more women into leadership positions in the country,” she said.

The chairperson urged women not to shy away from taking up sensitive leadership positions like their male counterparts.
NAN reports that Gov. Bagudu on Wednesday approved the appointment of 15 new permanent secretaries in the state civil service out of which five were women.
