The 2022 technical committee on conference planning (TCCP) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has confirmed that conference bags are in short supply because some were turned down for being substandard.
It has subsequently stopped distribution of the bags and other conference materials until further notice.
Qed.ng reported earlier that lawyers, who are attending the NBA’s annual general conference in Lagos, protested on Tuesday, asking to be given their bags which were paid for.
Chairman of NBA TCCP 2022, Tobenna Erojikwe, explained in an email to lawyers that the suppliers have been asked to provide better replacements for the rejected ones.
“Regarding the ongoing collection of conference materials, I am writing to update you that we will now pause collection of conference materials (specifically the conference bags) until further notice.
“This is because while we have ordered more than enough bags to serve our delegates, we have now observed that the most recent batches of the bags delivered to us are less than the quality that we contracted and paid for. We have accordingly rejected them and asked our suppliers to provide conforming replacements as soon as possible,” Erojikwe said.
The TCCP chairman added that the issuance of other conference items would continue.
“In any case, to enable our delegates continue to enjoy the conference, all other materials (particularly the tags, tickets and lanyards) will still be issued to you at the designated collection points. Collection of the bags will resume afterward,” Erojikwe said.
