NBA most valuable player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, has revealed that he would play for country of birth, Greece, at the 2019 Basketball World Cup.
The Milwaukee Bucks player said he had not “talked to the coach about which position I’ll be playing … the important thing is to play.”
“Whether I play the 1 (point guard) or the 5 (center), I don’t care,” Antetokounmpo said. “I’m a basketball player. I want to help the team any way I can.”
The basketball World Cup takes place from August 31st to September 15 in China.
Both Nigeria and Greece have qualified for the competition.
Giannis Antetokounmpo was born in Athens, Greece, on December 6, 1994, the son of immigrants from Nigeria.
His parents had moved from Lagos to the Greek capital three years before his birth.
