The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has opened investigation into six residential houses and one shopping plaza linked to the embattled Abba Kyari in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The two-storey Assurance Plaza, located along the Giwa Barracks Road in Maiduguri, has about 100 stores.
The residential houses are within the Maiduguri New Government Residential Area, PUNCH reports.
It was gathered that the NDLEA began looking at the property after a suspected drug dealer linked to the N3 billion worth of Tramadol intercepted by the then-Kyari-led Intelligence Response Team (IRT) was arrested by operatives of the NDLEA in Lagos.
Last month, a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the transfer of Kyari and six others facing drug trafficking charges to the Kuje Correctional Centre.
The defendants were initially in the custody of the NDLEA.
The court equally denied bail to former members of the IRT led by Kyari — ACP Sunday Ubia, Inspector Simon Agirgba, and Inspector John Nuhu.
