The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released results for the 2020 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
NECO Registrar Godswill Obioma announced this on Wednesday at the exam body’s headquarters in Minna, Niger state.
A total of 1,221,447 candidates registered for the examination out of which 665,830 were male and 555,617 female. While the number of applicants that actually sat for the examination was 1,209,992; 659,796 males representing 54.53%.
According to Obioma, 1,102,041 candidates passed at credit and above level while 894,101 candidates had credit and above in English and Maths.
The registrar noted that 33,470 cases of malpractices were recorded during the exam.
He said four schools in Adamawa State, two in Kaduna State, two in Kastina State, two in Niger State, one in Taraba State and one in the FCT were derecognised by the council for engaging in mass cheating.
Obioma further said the council blacklisted 24 supervisors who engaged in aiding and abetting, connivance with non-candidates to write answers on chalkboards and poor supervision.
