Nedu manipulated me to say ‘poor girls turn me on’ – Mr Supranatural Ugo Nwokolo

Mr Nigeria Supranatural Ugo Nwokolo has accused media personality Nedu Wazobia of coercing him into making the controversial statement about being attracted to “poor girls” on The Honest Bunch podcast.

In an interview with social media personality Lucky Udu on Wednesday, Nwokolo claimed that Nedu pressured him to make the remark to ensure his episode would go viral.

Recall that in January, Nwokolo sparked outrage when he stated on the podcast that he finds “poor girls” more appealing, suggesting that the less money a woman has, the more attractive she is to him. His comments were widely condemned online.

Now, Nwokolo alleges he was manipulated into making the statement.

He recounted how, after winning the Mr Nigeria Supranatural title in October 2024, he reached out to Nedu for an opportunity to discuss his journey ahead of an international competition in Poland. However, he claimed Nedu demanded N5 million for a feature on the show.

According to him, his initial discussion topic was rejected, with Nedu allegedly saying, “You are speaking too much grammar. Nigerians are dumb people who wouldn’t be interested in such a topic. They don’t like intelligent people, so you have to sound dumb.”

Nwokolo said that after paying the money, Nedu called him a day before the podcast to inform him that another guest would be joining the episode.

“That’s not the agreement na. I paid to promote myself,” he recalled telling Nedu, adding that after some back and forth, Nedu agreed to refund N2 million after the appearance.

On the day of the recording, Nwokolo claimed he sought a briefing from Nedu, who allegedly told him the only way to make the episode work was to say what he was told. When he refused, he said Nedu told him he could either reschedule or forfeit his payment. Fearing additional expenses from traveling back and forth between Abuja and Lagos, Nwokolo said he reluctantly complied.

“Poor girls don’t turn me on. Nedu told me to say that,” he said, adding that he received severe backlash that did not align with his real character.

He further alleged that Nedu boasted about making social media influencer Saida Boj famous.

“It’s against my character to say such a thing because poor girls don’t turn me on. Nedu told me that he owns The Honest Bunch podcast and that I had to pay N5 million.

“He gave me the option of saying what he wanted, including mentioning a celebrity’s name to go viral. He specifically told me to mention VeryDarkMan. I was so depressed. In my lifetime, I have met manipulators, narcissists, gaslighters, and scammers, but Nedu is a discovery.”

His allegations come days after actress Yvonne Jegede accused Nedu of setting her up for backlash while simultaneously asking her out.

“The drama, especially on Facebook, has been ridiculous, sometimes hilarious, but it calls for deep introspection,” she said. “I have long moved on from my unpleasant experience with The Honest Bunch podcast.

“The clips cut from my episode were designed to attract trolls, and my brand was subjected to all sorts of dragging. While this was happening, Nedu, who was in my WhatsApp messages asking me out, was simultaneously posting materials that fueled negative attacks against me.”

Yvonne revealed that the situation became so intense that people flooded her son’s social media page with curses, forcing her to take it down. She also denied claims that she paid to appear on the show, calling the allegations “totally untrue.”

These accusations come shortly after Nedu resigned from The Honest Bunch podcast following allegations made by social media critic VeryDarkMan.

The controversy erupted after BBNaija star DeeOne appeared on the podcast and alleged that VeryDarkMan was gay.

VeryDarkMan responded by claiming that Nedu orchestrated the accusation and went on to list names of women whom Nedu allegedly had affairs with.
