Dove Entertainments has joined the membership of the Musical Copyright Society Nigeria (MCSN).
The label, owned by popular producer Nelson Brown, formally joined the society last week with works he has produced since 1994.
The versatile producer was welcome to the society by the chairman of the board of MCSN, Orits Williki, and its chief executive officer, Mayo Ayilaran, according to a statement made available to QEDNG over the weekend.
In his welcome address, Mr. Ayilaran formally introduced the society to the producer by saying that the core objective of MCSN was the protection of the copyright of its members and assured him that the society protects all members in whatever form legitimate including litigation without members spending a kobo in that direction.
Orits assured him that whatever he may have lost in terms of royalties, MCSN will get it back for him henceforth.
“In case of infringement all MCSN requires of you is just file the complaints and leave the rest for the society,” Orits advised.
Mr. Brown, on his own part, said he was motivated to join MCSN because he has found so many works produced by him on the internet, especially YouTube without knowing how it got there. “I don’t know how the works got to the net; I wonder who gave them the permission for that,” he said.
Brown has produced several hit songs with musicians from Ajegunle area of Lagos State.
Among the many singers he has produced their works over the years are Daddy Showkey, Daddy Fresh, Baba Fryo, late Sound Sultan, African China, Tuface and the Plantashun Boiz.
Brown joins MCSN with a very rich catalogue of musical works as a producer and a label owner.
