ADO Den Haag youngster, Tyronne Ebuehi, has rejected the opportunity to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Ebuehi, 20, was the only uncapped player invited by coach, Gernot Rohr, in his 24-man squad to prosecute the forthcoming 2017 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Algeria.
Born in Haarlem, Netherlands, Ebuehi, is highly regarded in the European nation and tipped to solve the right back dilemma of the Eagles.
However, in a shocking twist of event, the defender, who has featured seven times in all competitions for Den Haag this term, has opted to concentrate on his club career rather than representing Nigeria.
“I see it as a great honour that I am noted in my country. But at this time ADO Den Haag requires my full attention,” Ebuehi told his club’s official website.
“Especially now that I’m settled at the team. Therefore, now it does not seem the right time to travel to Nigeria for the match.
“I want to focus completely on the club. But I certainly do not rule out that I consider any future invitation.”
In the absence of the youngster who is also eligible to represent the Dutch national team, Rohr could make do with Shehu Abdullahi or Musa Mohammed in that position.
