The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 14 Rabiu Yusuf has passed on.
Mr Yusuf was yet to officially resume following his recent promotion to Katsina State to head the newly created Zone 14 comprising Kaduna and Kastina states.
Yusuf last held the position of the commissioner of police in Kano State.
Katsina police spokesperson Gambo Isah confirmed the death of the official on Sunday morning, saying he died after a brief illness.
