Barcelona star Neymar is facing yet another criminal charge, this time for fraud, as Brazilian investigators pursue possible leads dating back to 2006.
According to the BBC, prosecutors in the 23-year-old’s native Brazil are recommending that the Barca star be charged on four counts of fraud relating to a tax case dating back 10 years.
Investigators allege that companies were set up as a means for the Brazilian to pay a lower rate of tax, with their investigations covering a seven-year period from 2006 – when Neymar was just 13 years old, yet already a star in the making.
Neymar has not yet been formerly charged, with prosecutors needing to first appear before a judge who will decide whether or not there is a case in this matter.
These allegations are separate to investigations of fraud pertaining to Neymar’s 2013 transfer from Santos to Barcelona, where it is believed Neymar’s father and agent concealed a large portion of his son’s transfer fee.
