The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has rebuffed claims of an imminent contract extension for Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr.
Rohr was handed a two-year deal last year by the Glass House with a mandate to qualify the nation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
He achieved that with aplomb after Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Zambia.
Hence, the belief was that the NFF will as a matter of urgency renew the ex-Bayern Munich defender’s contract.
But the body has swiftly moved to distance itself from any of such.
“There was nothing like contract extension and I don’t know where the news came from,” NFF spokesperson, Ademola Olajire, told Completesports on Tuesday.
“If there is going to be contract extension, definitely the media will be carried along and it will not be a secret thing.
“We are happy with the good job he is doing in the Super Eagles and also commend him for the World Cup ticket.”
Rohr current deal runs till the summer of 2018.
