The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Friday released a three-man shortlist for the vacant Super Eagles coaching job.
They include two expatriates, Paul Le Guen and Tom Saintfiet, alongside Salisu Yusuf.
Three-time African champions, Nigeria, have been without a substantive manager following Sunday Oliseh’s resignation in February.
Coaches Samson Siasia and Yusuf both had interim stints in charge of the West African nation.
Frenchman, Paul Le Guen, is considered clear favourite for the job owing to his superior pedigree and experience.
The 52-year-old former French international last managed Oman and Cameroon and was one time coach of Paris Saint-Germain.
Saintfiet, 43, is also vastly experienced on the continent having managed Namibia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and most recently Togo.
Yusuf, the only indigenous coach, came into the fray after leading the Eagles to two friendly victories against Mali and Luxembourg in May.
The NFF Technical Committee will meet on Monday, July 18 to interview the shortlisted candidates and immediately name the next coach.
Others who showed interest the job include Giovanni Solinas, Hey Antoine, Mark Wotte, Ove Pedersen, Adebayo Lateef Kola, Sylvanus Okpala and Peter Ijeh.
