NFF remembers Mudashiru Lawal 26 years after demise
Mudashiru Lawal, one of Nigeria’s greatest footballers of all time, passed away, exactly 26 years ago on Thursday.
The ex-Shooting Stars midfielder who garnered 86 caps for the Super Eagles died in his home in Ibadan.
It is for this reason that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) took out time to celebrate the life of the Abeokuta-born star.

Muda, as he is fondly called, worked as a mechanic before his football artistry came to the fore.
He made his debut for the country in 1975 and just one year later helped Shooting Stars to the African Cup Winners Cup, now known as CAF Champions League.
But his most unforgettable moment was when he led Nigeria to its first Africa Cup of Nations title on home soil in 1980.
He alongside the likes of Christian Chukwu and Segun Odegbami are still being held as the players who changed the face of Nigerian football.
Muda holds the record of being the only player on the continent to have appeared at five consecutive Nations’ Cup finals (1976–1984).
He is also the fourth most-capped Nigerian of all-time trailing Vincent Enyeama, Joseph Yobo and Nwankwo Kanu.
Despite predominately playing in midfield, Muda scored 10 goals for his country, making him the 11th top scorer.
