Shaibu made the commendation during his keynote address at the 6th Annual Gathering of the NCMF, themed “In Pursuit of Better,” held at Four Points by Sheraton in Lekki, Lagos.
He acknowledged the forum’s role in facilitating partnerships between Nollywood creatives and industry stakeholders, describing it as a platform for meaningful discussions on trends, challenges, and opportunities within the industry.
“I congratulate the leadership of the forum and urge them to continue to facilitate discussions on industry trends, challenges, and opportunities, with a focus on shaping the future of Nollywood,” he said.

He revealed that “this year alone saw a 120% surge in revenue at the box office and an increase in ticket purchases.”
While celebrating these milestones, he reminded stakeholders that the path to excellence remains challenging.
Shaibu emphasised the need for NCMF to prioritise quality storytelling by producing authentic, engaging narratives that reflect diverse experiences.
He also stressed the importance of professionalism, which entails adhering to industry standards, best practices, and ethical guidelines.
The NFVCB boss further urged Nollywood practitioners to embrace new technologies and foster knowledge sharing as key components for achieving excellence.
Shaibu assured attendees that the NFVCB under his leadership remains committed to supporting filmmakers.
He outlined plans for capacity-building programs, including workshops, and revealed plans to establish a Producers, Exhibitors, and Distributors Lab.
The ED also promised access to funding opportunities, endorsement letters for those seeking to build cinema infrastructure, and assistance in facilitating international collaborations and partnerships.
