The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has celebrated the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun on his 59th birthday.
Egbetokun was born on September 4, 1964. He enlisted in the NPF on March 3, 1990 as a cadet assistant superintendent of police.
The NPF shared photos of its boss on Monday on social media, noting that his leadership qualities continue to inspire police personnel.

“Your unwavering commitment to a Police Force that is professionally competent, rule of law compliant, service-driven, and people-friendly is truly commendable. Your leadership continues to inspire us all. May this new year bring you immense joy, success, and prosperity. Join us in celebrating the birthday of a remarkable leader!” he said.
On 19 June 2023, President Bola Tinubu appointed Egbetokun to replace Usman Baba.

Until his appointment as the inspector general, he was a deputy inspector-general of police and supervising DIG for the south-west geo-political zone, to head the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID), Force Headquarters, Abuja since April 6, 2023.
Egbetokun graduated from the University of Lagos with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics in June 1987 and lectured mathematics briefly at Yaba College of Technology. He has a master’s degree in engineering analysis from the University of Lagos in 1996, a postgraduate diploma in petroleum economics from Delta State University in 2000, and an MBA from Lagos State University, Ojo in 2004. He also holds a PhD in peace and security studies from Al-hikmah University, Ilorin, Kwara State.
