Nigerians have called for the release of Leah Sharibu from Boko Haram captivity after the Federal Government successfully negotiated the release of Zainab Aliyu from detention in Saudi Arabia.
Zainab, a student of Maitama Sule University, Kano, was arrested at a Saudi airport after a banned drug, tramadol, was found in her bag.
Her release was announced on Tuesday.
Sharibu, on the other hand, was among about 110 students of Government Girls Science and Technical Secondary School, Dapchi, Bursari local government area of Yobe State who were kidnapped on the night of February 19, 2018.
While all the other girls were released, Sharibu has been held back for refusing to denounce her Christian faith.
The presidency has repeatedly said it is doing its best to free Sharibu, but Nigerians have used the opportunity of Zainab’s freedom to demand more from the government on Sharibu’s captivity.
