The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) is set to strengthen its operations within the South East geopolitical zone of the country with the allocation of a six-room office accommodation by the Government of Abia State.
At an elaborate ceremony to hand over the office accommodation to the NFC in Umuahia, the Abia State capital on Monday, Permanent Secretary, Abia State Ministry of Information and Strategy, Ifeanyi Agbai, said it was the desire of the government and people of Abia State to assist agencies of government who are up to aid the state to develop as fast as it can while performing their statutory functions.
For Agbai, “today’s ceremony is a promise, fulfilled and a dream achieved”.
Director General, Broadcasting Corporation of Abia (BCA), Uchena Dike, expressed happiness that the NFC is coming to Umuahia,
Dike expressed Abia State Government’s appreciation to the NFC for choosing to site the headquarters of its southeast zonal office in Umuahia and assured that relevant government agencies will be mobilised to assist the NFC to commence operations.
Managing Director/Chief Executive of NFC, Chidia Maduekwe, thanked the government of Abia State for providing the office accommodation at such short notice.
Maduekwe commended the vision of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to transform the state, and the NFC, he said is a beneficiary of the benevolence of the government of Abia State.
“We shall enhance the media capacity of the State, develop and sustain a robust partnership between Abia State and the NFC on broadcast and film production,” Maduekwe stressed.
NFC currently has zonal offices in Lagos, Kano and Abuja, with its headquarters in Jos, Plateau State.
Two more zonal offices are to be established in due course, one each for the south-south and northeast geopolitical zones of the country.
The southeast zonal office of NFC is within the premises of the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia, in Umuahia.
