President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the Nigerian Correctional Service Bill into law.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
The Act repeals the Nigerian Prisons Service Act.

According to the statement, the Act provides for two main faculties of the Correctional Service – custodial service and non-custodial service.
The President also approved a change of name for the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi in Benue State.
The new name for the institution is Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi.
