Nigerian rapper, Lotanna Udezue, popularly known as Biglo has died from kidney disease.
His colleague and friend, Jazzman Olofin, told Punch that the rapper died on Christmas day.
Olofin said, “It is true that Biglo is dead. To my knowledge, he had been ill for a while. He had been battling kidney disease. He had been notifying the public via his social media account for a while now.
“I got a call from our mutual friends in America last night that he died on Friday, which was Christmas day. Unfortunately, I do not know how old he was.”
Qed.ng had reported that the ‘Delicious’ crooner was down with a kidney ailment in July 2019.
He underwent dialysis at a nursing home in California, United States, after being diagnosed of the ailment in July 2018.
A GoFundMe account was also opened on his behalf by his cousin, Zuby Udezue, a UK-based rapper.
Mr. Udezue said Biglo had undergone three surgeries and is trying to raise £50,000; about N23 million. About £4,830 has been raised so far.
In a video posted on YouTube, Biglo said he had lost his job, his house, and his car because of the ailment.
“I’m appealing for donations from everyone, from loved ones, from friends. Please, I need money to pay my medical bills. It’s so much. I’ve had so many surgeries. I also need money to see if I can travel to India to kick-start a kidney transplant process,” he said.
