Nigerians have reacted negatively to comments made by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on kidnapped Dapchi schoolgirl, Leah Sharibu.
Leah, one of the 119 students of the Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi, Yobe State, kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists in February, spoke from captivity in an audio recording published by TheCable on Monday.
Speaking in the Hausa Language, she begged President Muhammadu Buhari to come to her rescue.
Adesina, while speaking on Channels TV programme, Sunrise Daily, on Tuesday said God is interested in her and will ensure that she is preserved.
“For how much longer, I think that question can only be answered by God. I believe that God is interested in that young girl and will ensure that she is preserved.
“I think when that clip that we have is verified, at least one will be sure that it’s her and when that is determined, we should all be glad that she is alive.
“When will she return, by the grace of God, the government is working on it and we believe she will be back,” Adesina remarked.
Nigerians reacted to the remark on Twitter, with many of them knocking Adesina for his comments.
@channels @sunrisedaily @MaupeO obviously the life or otherwise of Leah Sharibu is a big joke to my friend Femi and thus all the giggles and excusing the presidency of prime responsibility on care to her family. Is Leah the president’s daughter?

He laughed at his ridiculous comments & was planets aways from the realities of our pains as a people. There’s absolutely no substance in his delivery. What’s that comment about PMB’s style again? So our President’s style is to speak thru contradicting channels? Give me a break!

I did and I wondered why the constant laughing. You make a mockery of a girl in captive saying things like the LG chairman and governor should be in touch with parents and not the President. President of the rich.

Infact I felt bad smell coming out from his mouth when I heard him say it is not the duty of the president to know how the families of abducted girls were faring

*Make a laugh while talking about a subject as critical as Leah’s.

I thought I was the Only One that Noticed….I was gobsmacked and Embarrassed that an FG Spokesperson don’t have a hands on grasp of Information as at when due…..lazy Response to questions as if he’s doing Nigeria a Favour…don’t wanna talk abt those “Funny Laughs” he had

He is an outsider in his own government, their sneakiness knows no bound….

I listened to him and renewed my belief that Nigeria is in Danger. Terrible statements

I watched it too Ma and I was wondering what was funny about the question asked so this girl’s case is now in the hand of God? Hmmmmmmmmmm How did we get to this My God!

That was distasteful for me. That he could make a laugh about Leah’s situation. Maupe looked tired of his 15 seconds answers. Not a fan.

He’s speculative. He’s always laughing stupidly for no reason. He’s always dodging questions.

A very big waa.

@FemAdesina God has given you the will. My sincere advice to this government is to act decisively and bring this little girl back home. She is traumatized, her family are in pains. This is rather taking too long.

It is sad how Femi shows a complete lack of empathy on very serious national issues.
So much about “just doing his job”!— Ignatius Ezeani (@igezeani) August 28, 2018
