Nigerians have expressed concern for Toyosi Etim-Effiong, the wife of actor Daniel Etim-Effiong, following the release of a promotional video where the actor shares a kiss with his colleague Bolaji Ogunmola.
The video, which has since gone viral, features Daniel in a romantic role opposite the curvaceous actress, showcasing intimate and touchy moments, including a passionate kiss.
While many fans have praised Daniel’s performance and the chemistry between him and his co-star, others are questioning the necessity of such intimacy in a promotional clip and speculating about its potential impact on Toyosi.
Online, fans voiced their concerns.
A user identified as Sammy wrote, “This is cheating btw. There was zero need to kiss in this promotional video. Like zero need. This is not a trailer o. A promotional video, not part of the film? Are both of you normal? Is there no body regulating this nonsense??? I am so angry!!!!!! Nonsense!!!!!!”
Another user, Aduks, added, “This and many more is why good sis Toyosi cannot rest. Tori, why are you kissing in promo video?”
Lynn Jatau commented, “Una wan make Aunty Toyosi craze walai.”
Tylerzyn wrote, “God why am I crying…Toyosi you’ll be fine.”
Tiwa Bola noted, “Ahhhhh😮😮😮I am a jealous lover walai I can’t marry an actor😂😭😂.”
These reactions stem from Toyosi’s past openness about her feelings regarding her husband’s on-screen roles.
During a podcast appearance in December, she admitted to grappling with jealousy when seeing Daniel in close proximity to other women, despite their marriage being built on trust and understanding.
In January, Toyosi went viral after revealing that Daniel chose to marry her because his ex-girlfriend at the time wasn’t ready for marriage.
“The reason why he left the person he was with was because she said she wasn’t ready to settle down, but me, I was very ready,” Toyosi explained. Her comments sparked criticism, with some Nigerians questioning why she accepted being a “second option.”
Daniel had also opened up about the toll online criticism has taken on Toyosi and his efforts to support her individuality.
Speaking on her YouTube channel, he expressed his difficulty watching his wife face backlash for her candidness, particularly regarding their marriage.
