Nigerian football enthusiasts were forced to swallow humble pie after the Super Eagles’ 2-0 defeat to Serbia on Tuesday.
Having already dismantled Argentina and Poland – two teams ranked above the Eagles, faithful expected another favourable outing for Gernot Rohrs’s men.
But surprisingly, they literally didn’t show up as the Europeans almost walked them over in London.
A lot of Nigerians took to Twitter to express discontent at the team’s woeful showing.
At this point, I guess we Nigerians will realise that a fine writing does not guaranty a good result. #NGASRB

Thank God for international friendlies like this, imagine taking this current super eagles squad to World Cup, they will knock us out in first, second game. #NGASRB

Good Match.
Happy we lost.
I did not see what Awazieme played – was he short 1?
The Midfield lacked both Grit & Flair – we cannot depend on only Mikel.
Iwobi balled, but …
Ighalo must start when fit
Ahmed Musa must learn crossing
I hope ROHR can address the weaknesses#NGASRB— Oloye TOLU Osaretin (@tholu_osa2) March 27, 2018
That midfield is totally off without Mikel Obi #NGASRB

Welcome to Nigeria. A country that was built on Miracle, filled with a population of citizens always praying casting and binding for Miracle. We fold our hands, do nothing and keep praying for Miracle. Everything is just a miracle. #NGASRB pic.twitter.com/ku5hwi2ewf

It’s only Nigeria that can beat Argentina and Poland but lose to small Serbia. #NGASRB
