Nigerians have attacked the minister of health, Osagie Ehanire, for saying the Federal Government had no knowledge of the whereabouts of 15 members of a Chinese medical team and that the team was brought into the country on the request of a construction company with Chinese origin, CCECC.
Ehanire told reporters at the daily Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 briefing on Thursday that the team arrived in the country on April 8 “to share their experiences in fighting the COVID-19” but that they were not “guests of the Federal Government but CCECC”.
Several groups, including the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), had kicked against the move to bring the medical personnel into the country.
The latest revelation from the minister drew more criticism from the public on social media.
