Senator Shehu Sani has advised the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to engage movie stars, musicians and footballers in its daily briefings.
Tweeting on Thursday, Sani said there would be an increase in compliance to directives in containing the coronavirus if the bodies engage actors, musicians and footballers, saying Nigerians believe them and not politicians.
“Our people don’t believe in most of their politicians and bureaucrats,” the former Kaduna South lawmaker said.
“They believe in their movie stars, musicians and footballers, the @NCDCgov and the PTF on #COVIDー19 should formally engage the latter to do the daily briefings & you will be amazed with the level of compliance.”
There are currently 276 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Nigeria, with 44 discharged and six deaths.
