Nigerians on Twitter are reacting diversely to the announcement by retail giant Shoprite that it is leaving Nigeria.
Last year, there were reprisal attacks on South African businesses in Nigeria including Shoprite following xenophobic attacks on Nigerians living in South Africa.
The company, however, said in a statement on Monday that it is considering its business in Nigeria “discontinued operation”.
While some Nigerians think it is good news for local competitors like Ebeano Supermarket, others disagree.
