Singer, Aituaje Iruobe, better known as Waje, has described Nigerians as deceitful, manipulative and wicked because of consistent use of hateful comments on social media.
The ‘Kolo’ singer made the statement in an Instagram post on Friday.
In the now deleted post, the 37-year-old wrote: “Maybe we as Nigerians deserve the insults we get from the rest of the world.”
Her statement comes a week after US President Donald Trump described African countries as “shitholes”.
“We are deceitful, manipulative, wicked, religious bunch. May God help us, I read comments and wonder if these are human beings or fallen angels (demons will be too harsh).
“May the day you want to be celebrated not be the day you’ll be cursed cause of seeds you have sown. Afterall is just a comment abi?” the mother-of-one added.
She was forced to delete the post after scathing criticism by fellow Nigerians.
A native of Edo State and coach on The Voice Nigeria music talent show, Waje hit the limelight after her vocals were featured on P-Square’s smash hit ‘Do Me’ in 2008.
