Nigeria’s first female minister of industry Nike Akande held her 80th birthday celebration on Tuesday night at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.
The Iyalaje and Iyalode of Ibadan was dressed elegantly for the occasion as was befitting of one who would be the centre of attention.
Akande was flanked by her husband Adebayo Akande, a business magnate, their children and grandchildren, friends, associates and well-wishers.
The economist, accountant and industrialist, who served as the president of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and is an honorary life vice-president of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, showed her moves on the dance floor while being serenaded by Highlife musician Flavour.
High-profile personalities including businesspeople and politicians attended the glamorous event.
Pastor Tunde Bakare, who will celebrate his 70th birthday next month, prayed for the celebrant in Yoruba language.
Akande was the second female president of the LCCI.
On November 1, 2014, she celebrated her 70th birthday. The event was held at the Eko Hotels and Suites with notable business moguls and politicians in attendance including former governor of Lagos State Babatunde Fashola and former governor of Ogun State Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
