One person has died while nine others have been recorded injured following a fire incident on Tuesday at the Providus Bank head office on Adeola Odeku Street in the Victoria Island area of Lagos.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the figure of the injured persons.
According to the agency, the nine persons, all male adults, suffered burns and injuries and were taken to an undisclosed hospital.
“Investigation gathered at the scene revealed the fire emanated from the generator house,” LASEMA said.
A car belonging to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command was also burnt outside the building.
Spokesman of Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the fatality.
He said, “The fire started within the bank premises on Tuesday morning. Our vehicle got burnt but our officers were not affected.
“One person died and others were injured. The injured persons have been hospitalised.”
First responders including officials of LASEMA, Lagos Fire Service and Rescue, among others prevented the fire from spreading.
