Chairman of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Abia State chapter Felix Olunkwa, who was kidnapped on May 27, has been freed.
Sources close to his family said Olunkwa was reunited with his family on Wednesday night, reports The Nation.
It was gathered that the kidnappers released the NIPR chairman after a ransom payment of N4 million, as their initial N200 million ransom could not be met by the family.
His close associates have described his release as a huge relief for his friends and family.
They called on the governor of the state and heads of various security agencies in the state to ensure adequate security for the citizens of the state.
Olunkwa was taken captive when he went to Aba to repair his sports utility vehicle (SUV) at the well-known Alaoji motor spare parts market, after failing to fix it in Umuahia, the state capital.
