Filmmaker Niyi Akinmolayn has engaged in a fight with a Twitter user who knocked him for criticising Don Jazzy’s artistes over their ‘sexual songs’.
In a post shared on Twitter on Thursday, the filmmaker said most of the songs Don Jazzy’s artistes sing about are all about sex and sometimes they don’t know what they are singing about.
Speaking further, Niyi stated that hearing the artistes sing about sex makes him feel “somehow”.
He wrote: “This thing where Don Jazzy gets young artists and most of the song is about sex and sex makes me feel somehow sha.
“I don’t know. It’s all sex sex sex. Sometimes u can tell they don’t even know what they are singing about. But what do I know? The music industry is rich, as u say.”
On Friday, the statement generated backlash from critics who bashed him.
A Twiiter user identified as Olouwo Jogbodo wrote: “Coming from someone from nollywood industry wey everything about yoruba spirituality na demons. Sago n bugo.”
“Make your own na. Enu dun ro fo,” Niyi replied.
“People with brains are doing good things. Tunde Kelani and others. Bigger than Africa project also. Follow their works,” the critic fired back.
“Lol why you no follow them, you no get brain?” The filmmaker retorted.
The relentless tweep continued: “Ifá divination organized by UNESCO is on YouTube you won’t do your research but you must do ur agenda to suit your narrative. Thunder will fire you soon.”
“Lol e pain u say the feem make money and dem no consult you. @realfemiadebayo this mumu don show again o,” Niyi wrote.
