The National Judicial Council (NJC) has constituted a five-man panel to investigate allegations against the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen, and the acting CJN, Tanko Muhammad.
NJC spokesman, Soji Oye, announced the development in a statement on Wednesday.
He said the council took the decision after accepting the result of the preliminary assessment of the petitions written against the duo.
A Preliminary Complaints Assessment Committee was set up on Monday to consider responses to petitions against Onnoghen and Muhammad.
The five-man panel will be headed by a retired Justice of the Supreme Court, S.A Akintan.
The statement also read that a new petition was filed against Muhammad by the Action Peoples Party, and that he had been given “abridged seven days” to respond.
