Self-styled investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, says she can confirm that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, is alive.
Ms Olunloyo tweeted on Wednesday, saying she had spoken with close friends of Mr Kanu, including former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, who confirmed that he spoke with the IPOB leader.
“After investigating all night, I am letting everyone know that Nnamdi Kanu is ALIVE and well. He was NEVER in Italy let alone hospitalised. I also spoke to close friends of Kanu including my brother @realFFK who confirmed the same and has spoken to Mazi Kanu,” she wrote.
Olunloyo had caused panic among IPOB members when she tweeted on Tuesday night unconfirmed reports that Kanu had died.
“#BREAKING Reports that Nnamdi Kanu has died. This is one strong news I cannot authenticate. Kanu or IPOB will have to debunk this. I hope he’s fine. Good luck to everyone,” she wrote.
Neither Kanu nor his press secretary, Amaka Ekwo, have spoken on the rumour.
