Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu is not missing as alleged, one of his lawyers Ifeanyi Ejiofor said Friday.
Mr Ejiofor said in a tweet that he met Kanu in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday, adding that a viral audio message suggesting that the IPOB leader was missing was false.
“Please UMUCHINEKE, kindly ignore the audio message being mischievously promoted/circulated by the enemies of our people, to the effect that ONYENDU MAZI NNAMDI KANU is missing in DSS facility,” he said.
“The information is fake, a blatant lie and should be totally ignored by Ezigbo UMUCHINEKE. As a matter of fact, court-ordered routine visit was conducted yesterday and ONYENDU spent time with those that visited him.”
Kanu has been in DSS custody since he was re-arrested and brought back to Nigeria from a contentious location in June 2021.
He has been appearing in court in Fendi designer clothes ever since.
