The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Monday, alleged that the whereabouts of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, and his parents were unknown.
The separatist group claimed the trio had been missing since the alleged attack on their house by security forces.
IPOB in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, said it had been searching for Kanu and his parents since the alleged attack on their compound but cannot find them.
“We the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, worldwide under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wish to bring to the notice of the whole world that the whereabouts of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his parents are still unknown to mankind since the attack at his compound last week.
“IPOB have been searching for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his parents but they are nowhere to be found since, last week, we are challenging the Nigerian Army and Police to produce our leader Mazi Nnamdi since it is a prerogative right for him to make statement informing his confidants and teeming members all over the world about his condition.”
Northern group, Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, had alleged that Kanu was planning to flee Nigeria through the Cameroonian borders.
The organisation said intelligence reports at its disposal revealed that the secessionist was on his way to Cameroon where he could easily escape from Nigeria.
IPOB statement came a day after a group known as Umuahia Youth Movement gave Abia Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, 24 hours to dethrone Kanu’s father, Israel Kanu, ruler of Isiama Afaraukwu in Umuahia.
In a letter addressed to Ikpeazu and copied to President Muhammadu Buhari, the group said failure to dethrone the traditional ruler would make them take the law into their own hands.
The youth blamed the current security situation and shutdown of economic activities in the state on Kanu who “could not call his son to order”.
