The police have reportedly arrested some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) dressed in Jewish apparel for the trial of their leader Nnamdi Kanu.
Mr Kanu is expected in court on Monday to continue his trial for alleged treasonable felony among other charges.
Daily Post, which is one of the media organisations accredited by the Department of State Services, reports that the IPOB members were also chanting freedom songs before the police swooped in. The online news platform did not specify the number of those arrested.
It also reported that a policeman threatened to shoot an IPOB supporter at the court premises.
“I don’t need you here now, so disperse; go in peace we don’t want this gathering,” the officer was reported to have said.
The IPOB supporter responded, “Where should we go to? I want to know where we should go to.”
The policeman reportedly pointed a pistol at the man but restrained himself after other IPOB supporters said they were recording the altercation.
Kanu’s family has repeatedly pointed fingers at Kenya for allegedly colluding with Nigerian authorities to “kidnap” the IPOB leader. But Kenya leaders have denied involvement.
