This was contained in a statement signed by the Acting Director, Administration, Lagos Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Abbeydeen Akande.
He stated that the fire which was caused by faulty capacitor of one of the air conditioners in the office affected only a section in the building started at about 8.35am.
Akande said the emergency alert procedures which include sending of distress call to the men of the Lagos State Fire Service, who responded on time and evacuation of staff amongst others, were activated.
According to him, the affected areas include newly renovated offices which have not been allocated to any staff of the organisation, adding that the total span affected by the fire was not more than two meters of the entire office.
While assuring that the report of the incidences would be made available to the Office of the Governor before the close of work, he also allayed fears of extensive damage to the office.
