Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma on Thursday said no one can accuse him of being corrupt.
He advised public officeholders to live within their legitimate means and desist from engaging in corrupt practices.
The governor spoke at Michael Okpara leadership lecture and award 2024 held at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
According to him, the inordinate quest for wealth, and lack of discipline, among others are responsible for the unbridled corruption in Nigeria’s system.
While delivering his lecture titled, ‘Service above others; lessons from the leadership philosophy of Michael Okpara,’ Governor Uzodinma advocated the need for political leaders to emulate the legacy of the late premier of eastern Nigeria to achieve a more prosperous country.
Further speaking, he revealed that the Egbema power plant which is currently ongoing rehabilitation will be completed and commissioned in the first quarter of 2025.
The event also saw in attendance Governor of Cross River State, Prince Bassey Otu; Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Patricia Obila; former first lady, Patience Jonathan among others.
