No southerner will be Nigerian president for next 20 years — Fani-Kayode

Femi Fani-Kayode

Former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, says that southerners should not expect to clinch the nation’s top job for the next 20 years.

Mr Fani-Kayode, a vocal critic of President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), alleged in a tweet on Sunday that northerners had perfected plans to control the federal seat for the next 20 years.

He said that any one who still believes that a southerner would be elected president in 2023 was being foolish.

“Hear this and hear it well. Anyone that believes that a southerner will be President in 2023 is a fool,” Fani-Kayode said.

“The north has ALREADY decided to keep power for the next 20 years and sadly there is NOTHING we can do about it. The only hope for the south is RESTRUCTURING or SEPARATION.”

The former minister gave an illustration in another tweet to support his logic.

He wrote: “BREAKDOWN: NW (North West) 4 years + NE (North East) 8 years + NC (North Central) 8 years. Total = 20 years. 20 years of northern rule! Enjoy it!”
