CEO of Rise Networks Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji says the Victims Support Fund (VSF) COVID-19 does not have food palliative left in any warehouse in Nigeria.
Mrs. Akerele-Ogunsiji stated on Saturday amid incidents of looting of warehouses containing COVID-19 palliative across the country.
“All our #VSFCOVID19Interventions Food Pallatives were COMPLETELY DISTRIBUTED months ago in Abuja, Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Taraba, Lagos, Ogun, Edo, Delta, Enugu, Ebonyi & Ekiti,” Mrs Akerele-Ogunsiji wrote.
“As at today, we have no Pallatives left in any Warehouse in this Country.”
The Lagos-born entrepreneur had in a tweet on October 22 expressed shock at the looting of food bags meant for vulnerable families by angry youth in Lagos.
“Have you seen Videos of COVID-19 Food Bags that were meant to be shared to Vulnerable Families amidst a deadly Pandemic stored away in Warehouses now looted by angry Youth in Lagos? I am shocked and disappointed,” she wrote, adding it was not connected to VSF COVID-19 interventions.
Akerele-Ogunsiji is the chairperson of VSF task force, a subsidiary of the humanitarian organisation established to take care of victims of terrorism and violence across Nigeria.
The VSF task force on COVID-19 was inaugurated by the chairman of VSF Theophilus Danjuma in April.
